Digitizing a Global Manufacturing Workflow

Brandix Lanka Pvt Ltd is one of the world’s leading apparel manufacturers, employing over 60,000 people and generating an annual turnover exceeding USD 600 million. With a global network of clients and production facilities, the company continues to push digital transformation across its operations to improve speed, accuracy, and scalability.

As part of this transformation, Brandix sought to automate one of its most repetitive and error-prone processes, entering raw material data into its Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system. Each order involved Excel files with up to 100 rows and 30 columns, manually entered line by line. The process was time-consuming, inconsistent, and prone to human error.

Our partnership focused on building a Bill of Materials (BOM) Automation System that could fully eliminate manual entry, validate data intelligently, and integrate seamlessly into Brandix’s enterprise architecture.

The Challenge of Scaling Precision

Digitally transforming this process required balancing data complexity with accuracy at scale. The system had to handle large datasets from multiple input formats such as Excel, CSV, PDF, and EDI while mapping every value precisely to PLM fields.

Beyond technical precision, the platform also had to be adoptable. It needed an intuitive interface that merchandising teams could use without extensive training. Integration with Brandix’s existing digital ecosystem was critical, ensuring that automation fit seamlessly into broader production workflows.

Engineering a Smarter Automation System

Our approach began with in-depth workflow research, interviewing merchandising and production teams to understand where time and errors occurred. Insights from these sessions guided the design of a system that mirrored real user behavior while automating the most labor-intensive steps.

We engineered the platform using ReactJS and MaterialUI for the front end and ExpressJS, Firebase, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) for the backend, leveraging a serverless architecture to achieve resilience, scalability, and cost efficiency. The system was designed to process files of varying formats, automatically validate data, and map entries into PLM with precision.

Rigorous QA and validation cycles ensured that the system achieved zero-error performance in production. Within eight months, we delivered a production-ready solution covering architecture, engineering, and deployment that seamlessly integrated into Brandix’s enterprise systems.
